Anna Ashby will be offering a unique series of workshops each limited to 18 students. In this smaller group format, a learning environment with detailed instruction will refine and hone the practice allowing for precision and subtlety of experience. Attention to alignment and detail will encourage a more conscious and considered approach the lends itself to going deeper.

This workshop focuses on honouring the body as a sacred vessel and engaging in conscious alignment that allows the vital energy or prana to flow freely so that postural practice becomes a means for expressing the devotion at the heart of practice. Yoga teaches that the body not only is a container for the vital or spiritual energy, but that it actually is an expression of this energy. For those yogis who evolved the physical practices of hatha yoga within Tantra, it became/has become a means for awakening, honouring and realising this latent spiritual energy at the heart of all practice. While traditional hatha yoga practices can be forceful and complicated, there are ways to perform the practice such that it embodies a deep honouring and recognition of the divinity within.

Category of poses: twists and forward bends with restorative and breath at beginning/end

The workshop is ideal for teachers, teachers in training and experienced students who wish to reflect on the architecture of poses and sequencing furthering their understanding of modern postural yoga. The format allows for dialogue and questions.

Students are expected to have a mature practice of 3+ years. If you have questions about suitability of level please contact
