from £795 - £1175 (see full pricing details)

Set among fig and olive groves, Huzur Vadisi is in the region of South West Turkey known as Lycia. The aptly named Huzur Vadisi or ‘peaceful valley’ is situated in a secluded mountain region a few miles away from the beautiful and unspoiled Mediterranean coastline and local marina town of Gocek. The centre is based around the original restored farmhouse. There are hammocks hanging enticingly between the trees, a beautiful natural stone swimming pool and a traditional wooden ‘kosk’ or tree/summerhouse, which is a favourite place for siestas and evening gatherings. Huzur Vadisi offers stunning scenery, clear night skies, great walking in the pine forest to spectacular view points and exceptionally warm hospitality in a very peaceful environment.

This retreat holds a spiritual dimension along with regular yoga practice including study of traditional teachings from the yoga tradition, meditation and a silent day. The yoga sessions will be held in the beautiful yoga shala (room) that is fully equipped. Each day begins with a two and a half hour yoga class that reflects a particular teaching on yoga and includes alignment-based instruction. The day ends with a restorative yoga class that includes breathing exercises and meditation.

There will be one free afternoon during the week and the opportunity to take a day long boat trip on that day (price not included). The local village of Gocek, which is only a twenty minute taxi ride away, has a pretty marina with shops, little bars and restaurants, providing all amenities. There will be time for shopping and relaxing in the local village of Gocek on the day of the boat trip. Massage treatments are available throughout your stay. Payments are made directly to your therapist.

Because this a Yoga 'Retreat' and not a Yoga Holiday it means that there will be some periods of quiet, where you will be asked and encouraged to keep speech to a minimum or nor at all. Quietness is a beautiful and profound practice that goes back thousands of years in all kinds of cultures and traditions when people wish to make a deep inner connection with themselves. Because most people in their every day lives do not encounter quietness the thought of it can be challenging so you will need to  consider whether this is something you are ready for or willing to try so you can be comfortable with the idea of observing the quiet times.

The majority of sleeping accommodation is in traditional nomadic yurts. There is also a tent option (single) as well as a shared cabin.

Yurts are circular wooden framed permanent ‘tents’, which are very comfortable, spacious & equipped with 'proper' beds, electricity, fans and have wooden floors.

See below for accommodation variations and options.

huzur_vadisi_table02.jpgMeals are delicious and in the style of Turkish village cooking, using fresh local produce, mainly vegetarian, and occasionally fresh local fish. Many guests say it is worth going for the food alone!

Boat Trip

boat_trip.jpgGuests’ all-time favourite day trip is a cruise around the islands and bays of this stunning coastline on a traditional wooden sailing boat. A day's cruise provides plenty of time for swimming and sunbathing, and a delicious lunch is cooked and served on board. The comfortable boats have toilets and a changing cabin on board, and provide ample deck space to stretch out in the sun or under a shaded awning. The Bay of Gocek, described by the yachting fraternity as the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, offers lovely views as well as beautiful clear water.
